This unique, daring, crude and often hilarious romantic comedy may divide audiences with its treatment of the subject matter of abortion but its honesty makes for an original unplanned pregnancy drama

Jenny Slate (Parks and Recreation) plays Donna Stern, an aspiring Brooklyn stand-up comic whose schtick is female genitalia and other bodily functions and who finds herself without a boyfriend and without a job in quick succession.

Consoling herself in a bar one night, she hooks up with nice-guy Max (Jake Lacy) and subsequently finds herself pregnant. Deciding to go through with an abortion, the film follows Donna and Max’s blossoming relationship.

Jenny Slate’s ballsy lead performance is ably assisted by a strong ensemble cast including Richard Kind as her father and Gaby Hoffmann as Nellie her best friend.

This debut film – funded by a Kickstarter crowd funded project – from writer-director Gillian Robespierre takes a refreshing, frank and uproarious look at the realities of a sensitive subject.
