Director Brad Bird (Mission: Impossible – Ghost Protocol, 2011; Ratatouille, 2007; The Incredibles, 2004) brings in this story of two people bound by a shared destiny – a bright, curious teenager, Casey Newton (Britt Robertson) and a former boy-genius inventor, Frank Walker (George Clooney).  Together they embark on a perilous mission to discover the secrets of an enigmatic place somewhere in time and space that exists in their collective memory as Tomorrowland.

This is a big, optimistic fantasy adventure that is excellent family viewing.  Casey is a normal teenager with a deep interest in science and technology; she is also a dreamer and an optimist who is frustrated to hear what is wrong with the world but has no answers as to how to fix it.  One day she finds a pin that allows her to access a Utopian world beyond where the young Frank Walker as a boy (played by Thomas Robinson) grew up. In Tomorrowland  the best of scientific and artistic minds have been selected to be creative, untrammelled by politics or capitalism.

With stunning, futuristic visuals and a narrative that is intriguing – though often difficult to follow – Tomorrowland  has a strong moral sense and many references for Disney fans to spot. It also benefits from the acting of a strong ensemble cast – the young Tomorrowland recruiter robot Athena is beautifully played by Raffey Cassidy and Hugh Laurie as Nix triumphs in a complex role.

Impeccable CGI and a very unexpected scene in Paris make Tomorrowland a memorable and dazzling sci-fi adventure.
