Synopsis: In the aftermath of a massive earthquake in California, a rescue-chopper pilot makes a dangerous journey across the state in order to rescue his estranged wife and daughter.

In this barnstorming, jaw-dropping epic disaster movie Dwayne (The Rock) Johnson plays Ray a Los Angeles fire and rescue pilot who must embark on a hazardous mission to rescue his daughter after an apocalyptic earthquake strikes the California coast. All hell breaks loose after California’s famous San Andreas Fault gives way, triggering an earthquake that is so huge its repercussions can be felt on the opposite coast of America. After the earthquake strikes, leaving a trail of destruction in its wake, it’s up to helicopter rescue pilot Ray to reunite with his estranged wife Emma (Carla Gugino) in order to rescue their daughter Blake (Alexandra Daddario). To do so, they are forced to embark on a treacherous journey north from Los Angeles to San Francisco, unaware that the worst of nature’s fury is still yet to be unleashed.

Dwayne Johnson seems to tower as high as the Coit Tower, as California is completely wiped out in dizzying CG1.  Nerve-jangling edge-of-the seat thrills ensue as our hero uses planes, cars, boats and underwater diving to complete his rescue mission, while the Hollywood sign topples and the Golden Gate Bridge splits and is swept away in a monstrous tsunami.

With a script by Carlton Cuse (TV’s Lost) and directed by Brad Peyton, who previously worked with Johnson on Journey 2: The Mysterious Island (2012), San Andreas provides massive natural disaster-inspired thrills in 3D, whilst featuring a strong supporting cast that includes Kylie Minogue, Ioan Gruffudd and Paul Giamatti as Dr Lawrence, the seismologist who has developed the technology that can predict such cataclysmic destruction.

San Andreas is a film where all you need to do is sit back and enjoy the ride!
